We place great emphasis on the quality of pastoral care for our students. A secure and friendly, but disciplined environment allows them to thrive academically and socially.
On entry to the Academy, students are placed in a tutor group within each year group. Each student has the help and advice of their tutor.
It is the tutor who is the first point of reference when a student requires help and advice, and the tutor who deal with day to day academic progress, attendance and behaviour. In addition there is a Head of Year who has overall responsibility for the academic, social welfare and discipline of students across their year group. The tutors and Head of Year work very much as a team to support all the students within the year and are available to discuss any concerns that parents/carers may have about their child’s progress.
Students are encouraged to accept responsibility for themselves and others and to take some part in the running of the Academy. We believe that this prepares our students for the choices and challenges of adult life. All year groups are represented on the Academy Council which meets regularly to discuss matters of student concern and welfare, and to make recommendations to the Senior Leadership Team and Governing Body.
