Physical Education

Sporting activities allow our students to develop self-confidence and self-esteem, with opportunities to take part in competitive sport or develop a leisure interest. During the School day we have exclusive use of the facilities of Beaufort Sports Centre, including a large Sports Hall, Gymnasium, Indoor Swimming Pool, weights room, CV and spin

bike area and the multi use games area which is the venue for netball and ten cricket nets during the summer.

Outside there are extensive playing fields, providing football, rugby and rounders pitches, an all weather cricket pitch and a full size athletics track. The course in Physical Education aims to promote personal health and fitness and to develop the skills required to take part in the wide range of sports taught in the department. Physical Education is a core subject in all years in the Academy, but can also be studied as an option in years 9, 10 and 11 and in the Sixth Form. There are flourishing school teams in football, rugby, netball, cricket, rounders, swimming, basketball and athletics all supported by lunchtime and afterschool activities.
